Mental Health Awareness Month

With May being Mental Health Awareness month, we wanted to speak a little about the topic. Although last year’s theme was Fitness #4Mind4Body, we feel as though the theme can be carried on for years to come. During this month last year, discussions were raised on how individuals can become fit for their futures no matter where they are in the timeline of their lives.

For a long time, exercise has been believed and proven to bring about health benefits both physically and mentally. When exercising regularly, exercise is proven to have positive effects on depression, anxiety, ADHD, and much more. Not only does it positively impact mental disorders, but exercise also relieves stress, improves sleep, and increases positivity.

Energy: Through the increase of your heart rate on a weekly basis, your body becomes accustomed to bursts of energy throughout the day. Causing your bodies energy levels to increase dramatically.

Memory: When you exercise, you’re endorphins work on making you feel better and positive overall. Those same endorphins help you concentrate and improve your memory. The production of new brain cells helps improve memory as well.

Self-esteem: When you take the time to invest in your mind and body, your self-worth increases. This in effect makes you feel stronger.
